Year 9 English

English at Year 9 features in an integrated programme.  The students are given a context for their learning, which enables them to see the big picture and encourage divergent thinking.  Literacy, as in all areas of the English curriculum, underpins the learning the students encounter and whilst it isn’t a ‘conventional English classroom’, the students are given the tools to give them success in English in the senior school, and in life.

The Year 9 theme for Term One 2016,  is ‘Growing Challenges’  (asking questions about us and our environment.) In English students will primarily  focus on reading, writing and research based on both our local environment as well as world issues. Spelling lists and word study tasks will relate to the vocabulary requirements of the Science and Mathematics strands.
